Final Pavement Work for 111th Street Improvement Project Begins Tuesday, Oct. 19
Final pavement work related to the 111th Street Improvement Project is slated to begin Tuesday, October 19, 2010. Work will occur on 111th Street from Route 59 to Perth Drive. Final paving is anticipated to take 2 weeks, weather permitting. Motorists should expect long delays due to the paving operations and are advised to seek alternate routes to avoid delays.
About the 111th Street Improvement Project
In May 2010, the City of Naperville began the 111th Street Improvement Project to improve traffic operations along 111th Street west of Route 59. When complete, the 111th Street improvements will benefit the community by improving traffic flow and reducing delays, providing easier access to the side streets located off of 111th Street and enhancing pedestrian access by providing continuous sidewalk on the north side of 111th Street. The project is slated for completion in early November 2010.
The following improvements are included in the 111th Street Improvement Project:
• Road Widening: 111th Street will be widened to provide a center median/left turn lanes at the intersections along 111th Street between Ace Lane and Perth Drive. The result is a three-lane cross-section, or one lane in each direction and a center median/left turn lane.
• Intersection Improvement: 111th Street will be widened to a five-lane cross-section, or two lanes in each direction and a center left turn lane, at Route 59. When completed, it will mirror the intersection of 111th Street on the east side of Route 59. A second left turn lane will also be added to the northbound and southbound legs of Route 59 to improve turning movements onto 111th Street.
• Road Resurfacing: As part of the roadway widening, the existing pavement on 111th Street will be resurfaced to provide a consistent and smooth riding surface for roadway users.
• Pedestrian Amenities: Sidewalk will be constructed on the north side of 111th Street to fill in the existing gaps from Route 59 to 248th Avenue.
