Thanks for the help in battle against ALS

On Sept. 12, thousands of people gathered for the Les Turner ALS Foundation's 9th Annual ALS Walk4Life. The spirited crowd offered hope to patients and families in the Chicago area and beyond. They joined forces to support those living with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) and pay tribute to those who have lost their battle to this terrible disease.

We are proud to share that the ALS Walk4Life was a huge success. We thank the 5,000 people on more than 200 teams who participated in the event and, to date, have helped raise more than $650,000. Participants walked for a wide range of reasons: to keep their mother's memory alive, to show patients that they are not alone, to help fund critical programs, to gather friends and family for a celebration of a father's life.

Every day I am inspired by our patients and those who help them embrace each day: caregivers, relatives, friends and colleagues. Support for the ALS community is what keeps hope alive.

ALS attacks a person's muscles, gradually robbing them of their ability to walk, speak, eat and breathe, yet usually keeping their mind intact. While some symptoms are treatable, there is currently no cure.
