Scouting Warren at Zion-Benton
North Suburban Lake
Warren (4-3, 2-2) at Zion-Benton (0-7, 0-4)
When: 7:30 p.m., today
Last week: Warren lost to Lake Zurich, 14-0; Zion-Benton lost to Stevenson, 45-7.
Skinny: Warren becomes playoff-eligible with a win, which would almost guarantee the Blue Devils a postseason berth, as they should have ample playoff points. The Zee-Bees have allowed an NSC Lake-high 257 points. They’ll be tested by a Warren ground game led by RBs Nolan Sordyl (683 yds., 7.2 avg.) and Tom Lindal (510 yds., 5.6 avg.). The Blue Devils should be anxious to put points on the board after being shut out by Lake Zurich. Warren coach Dave Mohapp knows his team will have to play well, regardless of the Zee-Bees’ record. Zion-Benton trailed Stevenson only 17-7 at halftime. “Zion, like last week’s opponent, is a very fast team that has players that can go the distance, Mohapp said. “Combine this speed with their offensive scheme and they can be very dangerous. Defensively, they are very fast and aggressive, and everyone gets to the ball. This team has shown much growth and improvement in the games that I have seen. We need to execute and sustain blocks and be ready.
