Illegal immigrant a political pawn

I do not think I have ever written a letter to the editor before, but the article by Susan Estrich made me mad.

She was writing about Meg Whitman. The title says the hired help was not treated decently. This lady was making $23 per hour. Where can I get a part-time job making $23 per hour?

The article also says that she should have known the lady was illegal. Meg was given a Social Security card, driver's license and a signed government form stating she was legal under penalty of law. What more would she have her do? Once the employee told her she lied about her immigration status, Meg did what she was legally required to do and fired her.

Lastly, she says there was a letter from Social Security. Did Susan read the letter? It stated that there was an irregularity with the number and that the employer should not fire the employee as a result of the notice.

The real story in this is this poor illegal immigrant is now facing deportation and criminal charges for lying on her government form. She is being used by Meg's opponent in the most disgusting way.
