Nick's Pizza to hold benefit for South Elgin boy

A benefit for Jackson Marquez will be Wednesday, Oct. 20, at Nick's Pizza & Pub, 990 S. Randall Road, Elgin. For details, call (847) 531-5550

The 3-year-old South Elgin resident is fighting neuroblastoma, a rare childhood cancer. To support the cause, guests can dine-in or carryout anytime from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Oct. 20 at the Elgin restaurant. All of the day's net profits will be donated to the Marquez family.

Marquez was diagnosed with neuroblastoma in March and since then has undergone four rounds of chemotherapy at Comer Children's Hospital in Chicago to shrink the tumors in his chest and neck. Doctors are hopeful that the chemotherapy will shrink the tumors, allowing them to operate and remove the tumors.

Jackson lives with his parents and 7-year-old brother. His mother, Terri, works as a beautician out of the family's home, and his father, Greg, works in power construction.
