Dealer guilty of selling heroin near elementary school
A Chicago man faces up to 30 years in prison after a judge found him guilty of dealing heroin near a Carpentersville elementary school, prosecutors said Thursday.
Anton D. Elem, 35, of the 3100 block of West 15th Place, was convicted of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school late Wednesday at a bench trial in front of Kane County Circuit Judge Thomas Mueller.
Prosecutors said Elem sold 1.5 grams of heroin to an undercover officer July 10 in a parking lot within 30 feet of Lakewood Elementary School, 1651 Ravine Lane.
Mueller set Elem's next court appearance for Nov. 18, for motions and sentencing. He faces six to 30 years in prison for the Class X felony, prosecutors said.
