Copper theft in Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights Police are trying to determine who stole copper from some dilapidated air condenser units on top of the Lone Star Restaurant at 115 W. Rand Road, officials said.

Authorities said the cost to replace the nine condenser units that were destroyed when thieves took out the copper piping is about $90,000, authorities said.

The thieves managed to get on the roof at some point between Oct. 1 and Oct. 11, officials said.

Police continue to investigate the instance, officials said.
