Elgin development opens two professionally decorated models
Providence, a development on Elgin's far west side, is a new home community designed with family living in mind.
The Town and Country Homes development features an on-site elementary school, 110 acres of open space, ponds, parks and hiking trails.
Residents have access to a boathouse-style community center overlooking a fully stocked fishing pond with fishing pier. The community center has a gathering room with views of the pond, a kitchen and outdoor tot lot. Two other parks, Heritage Park and Settler's Park, are equipped with tennis courts, pavilions and easy access to the hiking and biking trail.
In this idyllic setting, Town and Country Homes has introduced five new floor plans in its Blackstone series of single-family homes with two of them modeled at the community.
The new plans feature three to five bedrooms, 2½ to 3½ baths, partial basements and two- or three-car garages.
“The plans will provide buyers with more choices of homes that incorporate some of the most desired features among buyers today, said Donna Zizek, director of marketing for Town and Country Homes. “These homes are an outstanding value with prices attainable for families.
The Primrose and Colchester models have been professionally furnished and decorated by Laura O'Connor Design in East Dundee. These homes are beautifully appointed, shown with several upgrades and have many energy-saving features.
The Primrose is priced from $272,995 and features 3,282 square feet, four bedrooms, 2½ baths, bonus room, partial basement and three-car attached garage.
This open interior is very current and comfortable with dark wood floors and a chocolate, apple green and cream color scheme, O'Connor said. Furnishings are items you would find at Restoration Hardware and Crate & Barrel, such as the slipcovered sofas and chairs throughout.
It's all about mixing it up in the living room where reclaimed wood blends with more traditional and contemporary pieces with different finishes.
In the dining room, a green vase and glass pieces top a long wood table while a large free-standing mirror lends a spacious feel.
A stone fireplace with wood mantel highlights the family room that again blends contemporary and traditional furnishings with a reclaimed wood coffee table. A shaggy area rug adds pizazz.
With an uncluttered clean look, the kitchen features white cabinetry, stainless steel appliances, island with contrasting black cabinets and walk-in pantry. A full-height mosaic tile backsplash adds a decorative touch. A corner den provides homeowners with a private spot for working at home.
Upstairs, a stunning coffered ceiling highlights the master bedroom with his-and-hers walk-in closets and lots of windows for natural light. The private bath features wallpaper with a leaf motif, dual sinks, private commode, tub and separate shower. Set up for teenagers, the bonus room features a home theater, refreshment bar and plenty of seating.
Secondary bedrooms served by the hall bath show a lot of hand painting on the walls. One shows a tennis motif, another a music theme while the third room is furnished with a day bed.
The Colchester is priced from $247,995. This house features 2,681 square feet, four bedrooms, 2½ baths, partial basement and two-car attached garage.
Geared toward the first-time move-up buyer, this home is very contemporary with light wood floors and a mix of gray, taupe, chocolate, white and black.
Wanting to play up the living or flex room with something a little different, O'Connor arranged four comfortable leather chairs around a glass-topped coffee table.
The dining room features a round wood table, three chairs and sofa for seating around the table.
In the family room, two sofas flank the entertainment center. “This room resembles a man's suit not a lot of color, but lots of texture, O'Connor said.
A dark wood table with chairs and bench seating occupies the breakfast nook while the kitchen features black cabinets with crown molding, granite countertops, stainless steel appliances and walk-in pantry.
The loft is set up for younger children with a workstation and plasma TV, table and a chalkboard wall.
The master suite features dark woods, luxurious silk cream spread and private bath with dual sinks, walk-in closet, tub and separate shower.
Secondary bedrooms, served by the hall bath, include rooms with hockey theme, robot motif with decorative wood molding, and a room furnished with a day bed, white sheers and hand-painted birds on the wall.
Buyers may still choose the Tucker, Newport and Wilkinson. These plans range from 2,451 to 2,989 square feet, with four bedrooms, 2½ baths, first-floor dens, partial basements and two-car attached garages, priced from $252,995 to $274,995.
Several options are available including full, walkout or lookout basements, decks, bay windows, fireplaces and media centers, decorative volume and coffered ceilings, gourmet kitchens, ultra master baths and plumbing rough-ins in the basement.
Providence has easy access to mall shopping, two hospitals and all the perks of re-emerging Elgin, including the symphony, theater, Centre of Elgin's Community Center, fine dining, 10 area golf courses and the new Adventureland Water Park.
The community sits just west of the intersection of Lake Street (Route 20) and Randall Road. To visit, take I-90 west to Randall Road, south to Lake Street (Route 20), turn right to community entrance on the left.
