Palatine business wins national ranking

If the thought of chocolate cake brings a smile to your face, take a look at the Chocolate Cake Club based in Palatine.

The e-boutique was just ranked 28th out of 200 winners in StartupNation.com's 2010 Leading Moms in Business in America competition, a rating based on more than 709,000 votes cast.

Susan Kirchner, a wife and mother, started the company back in 2006. She sells gifts and products designed to create more “chocolate cake moments in families' lives, from birthday kits to kids' travel accessories.

Her company will also be featured in a new e-book offering advice and insights called Start Your Own Mom Business!

Other local companies named to the list were Porta Pocket by Undercover Solutions in Prospect Heights (40th), Freckles Crafts in Aurora (72nd), Ruddy System in Fox River Grove (157th), and Personal Office Management in Glen Ellyn (161st).
