Barrington's OMI earns award

Barrington-based OMI Industries, makers of the eco-friendly Ecosorb odor control products, announced Tuesday that its Ecosorb Spray Gel solution won the Environmental Protection 2010 New Product of the Year Award in the Air Quality category.

Utilizing the same scientific odor control formula found in Ecosorb liquid products, the Ecosorb Spray Gel applies a thin, semiliquid gel film onto the surface of the odorous material causing contact between the emitting odors and the product.

The Ecosorb Spray Gel does not use chemicals or fragrances to mask odors; rather, the product eliminates offending smells by absorbing and controlling the odor molecules.

The Environmental Protection 2010 New Product of the Year award honors the outstanding achievements of industry manufacturers whose products are considered particularly noteworthy for making environmental professionals' jobs a little easier. This is the first year of the award program.

“We are thrilled that the Ecosorb Spray Gel has received Environmental Protection's New Product of the Year Award, said Philip M. Coffey, President and Managing Director of OMI Industries. “Receiving this honor is an amazing achievement and an excellent recognition of the high level of odor eliminating products we bring to the industrial marketplace.

Three independent industry experts judged the entries. They were Howard Gilberg, H. Troy Stuckey, Ph.D., and Ron Trygar, all of who serve on the Environmental Protection advisory board.

OMI Industries is a worldwide leader in providing odor abatement solutions ranging from heavy industrial to consumer applications. The company's engineering solutions solve a variety of organic and inorganic odor control issues. OMI Industries owns three brands including Fresh Wave IAQ (commercial), Ecosorb (industrial) and the Fresh Wave (consumer).
