Barilla partners with CHEP

BANNOCKBURN — Barilla America Inc., one of the country's leading pasta and sauce manufacturers, Tuesday said it has signed a multiyear contract extension to ship on pallets from CHEP, a pallet and container pooling company. Barilla will continue to use CHEP pallets to transport its Barilla-branded pastas and sauces from a network of third-party logistics facilities to supermarkets, distributors and wholesale clubs across the USA and Canada.

Barilla America Director of Logistics & Customer Service, Craig Gillis, said: “We are pleased to extend our relationship with CHEP. Improvements in procurement costs, along with standardization within our operations, have led to improved efficiencies.

CHEP USA Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing, Karen Hempel, said: “CHEP is in the business of helping Barilla achieve its goals of improved productivity and reduced product damage. We maintain a great partnership characterized by the same integrity and fairness we have always expected from our own organization.

Barilla, originally established in 1877 as a bread and pasta shop in Parma, Italy, ranks as one of today's top Italian food groups. Barilla leads in the global pasta business, the pasta sauces business in continental Europe, the bakery products business in Italy and the crispbread business in Scandinavia.

Barilla owns 54 production facilities (14 in Italy and 40 outside Italy) and exports to more than 125 countries. Every year, over 2,500,000 tons of food products under the brands of Barilla, Mulino Bianco, Voiello, Pavesi, Alixir, Academia Barilla, Wasa, Harry's (France and Russia), Lieken Urkorn, Golden Toast and Kamps (Germany), Misko (Greece), Filiz (Turkey), Yemina and Vesta (Mexico), are featured on dining tables all over the world.
