O'Sullivan, Libertyville handle Round Lake

Andrew O'Sullivan got in on the fun Friday night.

The Libertyville wide receiver caught his first two touchdown passes of the season, helping the Wildcats beat host Round Lake 44-7 in a North Suburban Conference crossover.

O'Sullivan's second TD grab came from 33 yards out with 6:34 left in the first quarter. Four minutes later, he hauled in a 45-yard touchdown pass from quarterback A.J. Schurr.

"They were both play-action passes that we had been working on all week," said O'Sullivan, who finished with 4 catches for 94 yards. "A.J. reads the defense very well. He's a great athlete and he puts the ball right where you need it."

Schurr passed for 225 yards and 5 touchdowns, all in the first half.

"It was a good night," said Schurr, who has 15 touchdown passes for the season. "Round Lake was bringing a lot of pressure and it helped that our receivers got a lot of one-on-one coverage. We have a lot of good athletes."

After Schurr's touchdown tosses to O'Sullivan, he followed up with a 77-yard strike to Jeremy Birck, as the Wildcats led 21-0 at the end of the first quarter.

"I give all the. credit to A.J," Birck said. "He threw a perfect ball to me."

Meanwhile, the Wildcats defense allowed Round Lake only 21 yards in the first quarter and 45 in the first half.

"A.J. played another solid game for us,"said coach Randy Kuceyeski, whose Wildcats improved to 3-4. "I was more happy with the way our defense came out tonight. They just didn't allow Round Lake any big plays."

The Wildcats took advantage of 3 fumble recoveries and an interception by Max Ebert.

The Wildcats scored 16 points in the second quarter and seven in the third to build a 44-0 lead.

Round Lake (1-6) finally got on the board when running back Jacoby Griffin scored on an 18-yard sweep late in the fourth quarter.

"They have a lot of weapons," Round Lake coach John Coursey said.

"I thought we came at them in the first quarter, but once again we made too many mental mistakes, and that is what has been our problem all season."
