Scouting Libertyville at Round Lake

Libertyville (2-4) at Round Lake (1-5)

When: 7:30 p.m., today

Last week: Libertyville def. Zion-Benton, 41-28; Round Lake lost to Lakes, 28-14.

Skinny: Libertyville's "playoffs" began last week, as it needed to beat Zion-Benton to keep alive its playoff hopes, and the Wildcats responded. While the defense gave up 28 points, the offense continued to put up lots of points. QB A.J. Schurr was the engineer again, but this time it was with his legs rather than his arm. Schurr rushed for 5 touchdowns and 67 yards. He tops all Lake County passers with 1,473 yards, while completing 61 percent of his throws. WR Jeremy Birck has 45 receptions, 11 for TDs. Schurr also leads the Wildcats in rushing yards with 361. "They got a nice team," Round Lake coach John Coursey said. "That's a tough side (NSC Lake Division)." ... Round Lake has lost four in a row. The Panthers are led offensively by RB Jacoby Griffin, who scored 2 late touchdowns against Lakes. Griffin scored on a 4-yard run and had a 19-yard TD reception on a screen toss from QB Anthony Gutierrez.
