Village paying more for construction projects
The village of Carpentersville will foot a new cost with every construction project from now on, due to new regulations from the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency.
The village board approved an extra $9,000 for a local improvement project at the Oct. 5 board meeting because it will have to certify the construction debris is free of contaminants. The village is currently engaged in millions of dollars worth of projects the $9,000 is the cost for certifying just one.
The new IEPA mandate is called the Clean Construction or Demolition Debris Requirements and went into effect July 30.
