Naperville plane crash victims improve

Two days after their private plane crashed into a Naperville health club, the pilot and his wife have been upgraded from serious to fair condition at Edward Hospital in Naperville.

Lloyd McKee, 66, and his wife, Maureen, 63, both of Naperville, were taken to Edward Wednesday afternoon in serious condition to treat broken bones and lacerations, after their six-seat Piper Lance crashed into the building. Hospital officials said Friday their condition has improved.

No injures were reported at XSport Fitness on Route 59 and 75th street, where the plane crashed after traveling only a few hundred feet.

Health club officials said final repairs are being completed Friday, but the facility has returned to normal operations.

Officials at the National Transportation and Safety Board, who are investigating the cause of the crash, could not be reached Friday morning.
