Bank shreds documents, collect electronics

Barrington Bank & Trust will hold free Community Shredding Events from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 6, at its 233 W. Northwest Hwy. office, and at the offices of Hoffman Estates Community Bank, 1375 Palatine Road and 2497 W. Golf Road.

The events are free and for the first time, will include various electronics recycling. To participate, bring your paper documents or electronics to the most convenient location.

It is recommended that sensitive documents such as tax returns, bank statements, canceled checks and credit card statements be shredded instead of thrown away.

Obsolete electronics such as printers, fax machines, DVD and VCR players, cell phones, hard drives and laptops will be accepted.
