Geneva will form housing panel

Geneva is looking for volunteers for a city housing task force.

The new seven-member advisory panel will develop recommendations on how affordable housing could be accomplished in Geneva. That is one of the goals in the city's 2017 Strategic Plan.

The task force will gather information on resources that are available to support affordable housing, identify and define Geneva's affordable housing needs, consider alternative approaches to address any needs and review requirements of the Illinois Affordable Housing Planning and Appeal Act as they apply to Geneva.

People with backgrounds in finance, real estate, development or housing law, as well as those who simply have an interest in the topic, are encouraged to apply. Call Mayor Kevin Burns at (630) 232-7494 to obtain an application. The form is also available on the city's website, geneva.il.us; click on the “City government button, then “Appointed Boards and Commissions, then “Application for Appointment.

Applications are due Nov. 1.
