Religion has nothing to do with tax views
I am weary of being accused of being "un-Christian" because I do not wish to pay high taxes. These admonitions come from the mouths of people who neither know the scriptures nor give reverence to their teaching.
America is not a church, it is a nation. Let us keep politics out of the pulpit, and let us please keep the pulpit out of politics. I do not need my elected representatives to dictate my religious affections and attitudes toward poverty or anything else, for that matter.
My senator is not my pastor. The government has the right to my lawful, civil obedience but the government does not own my heart. As a Christian, I do believe in being generous to those in need, but I do not believe the government has the right to administer my generosity.
