Panel holds meeting in Peoria on health care law

PEORIA -- A panel that will make recommendations on how Illinois implements the new national health care law is holding its second meeting in Peoria.

The Illinois Health Care Reform Implementation Council plans to hear Tuesday from health care providers, the general public and others affected by the law.

Gov. Pat Quinn formed the panel in July. Its members include the chiefs of agencies overseeing public health, insurance, services to the elderly and the Illinois budget.

Illinois has been an active partner in the implementation of the Obama administration's health care overhaul. That's unlike 20 states mounting court challenges to the law.

Tuesday's meeting will be held at Illinois Central College in Arbor Hall Auditorium, starting at 3:30 p.m.
