Bulls, Noah agree to extension
The Bulls have agreed to terms on a contract extension with Joakim Noah, a team source confirmed. The deal is expected to be in the neighborhood of $60 million over five years.
This is somewhat surprising news, since impending labor negotiations and the threat of a lockout next summer figures to hold up the number of new contracts. If a deal hadn't been reached by Oct. 31, Noah would have become a restricted free agent in 2011.
After a slow start to his NBA career, Noah has done nearly everything the Bulls could have asked. He averaged 10.7 points and 11.0 rebounds last season and posted the first 20-20 game in Bulls playoff history against Cleveland.
He's been dedicated to winning and working hard in the summer, traits the Bulls couldn't always find in their young big men during the past decade.
