Run for Mental Health 5K Saturday
The Run For Mental Health NAMI 5K will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 9 in downtown Batavia. The race is being held at the conclusion of National Mental Illness Awareness Week Oct. 3-9. Proceeds from the race will benefit the Kane/Kendall & Dekalb Chapter of National Alliance for Mental Illness.
Since 1979 NAMI has been providing education, support and social services to individuals and families affected by mental illness including severe mental illnesses, such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, major depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic and other severe anxiety disorders, and other mental illnesses that affect the brain. Since its inception four years ago, the NAMI 5K has raised more than $15,000 to support NAMI services.
Registration for the NAMI 5K Run For Mental Health can be conducted online at Active.com or by visiting www.nami5k.com. Registration is $25 with online registration closing on Oct. 7. Race day registration will be available up until half-hour before the start of the race. All race entrants will receive a Technical race shirt and medals for top finishers.
