Edith's Place will be back in Prospect Heights

Edith's Place restaurant in Prospect Heights has its city liquor license back -- after it was voluntarily surrendered by mistake.

Owner Edith Seaman gave up the license in September, thinking she wouldn't be able to secure a state liquor license if she had a local license.

In fact, bars and restaurants serving alcohol are required to have both municipal and state liquor licenses.

The Prospect Heights City Council approved the class A liquor license this week.

Mayor Dolly Vole said the restaurant had no violations or delinquency, and Seaman said she had no bad intentions.

Edith's Place, formerly located in Mount Prospect Plaza at Rand and Central roads, moved to 1326 N. Rand Road this summer. Seaman said she decided to relocate because of high taxes and rent.

The restaurant, which features Chinese and Filipino food, will also have a bar/entertainment area and banquet hall. Seaman said she plans to open by the second week in October.
