Sky promotes Adam Fox to president and CEO

The Chicago Sky announced Friday that Adam Fox has been promoted to president and CEO of the Chicago Sky, effective today, and former president Margaret Stender will assume new duties as chairman and minority owner.

"It has been an enormous honor and joy to be involved from day one and see the Sky develop from a vision and a dream into a thriving multifaceted professional organization," said Stender. "In my new role I'll be available to consult with Michael Alter (Principal Owner) and Adam on a variety of matters when appropriate. And of course, I'll continue to be a highly involved fan."

"I am very pleased to be able to turn over the daily leadership and operation of the Sky to Adam. I have truly valued his partnership at the Sky over the past several seasons."

Fox has been with the Sky since 2007, serving in the role of Chief Operating Officer. With Stender, he helped to orchestrate the Sky's move to Allstate Arena and the Sky's deal to televise its games on CN100.

"I have the utmost confidence that Adam is going to successfully lead this team for many years to come," said Michael Alter, principal owner of the Sky. "He has a proven record of success in sports and it's going to be exciting to see the continued growth of this franchise."

The move comes after a season in which the Sky set franchise records in average attendance (4,292/game) and single-game attendance (6,950 on July 14 vs. San Antonio), but also in which it missed the playoffs for the fifth straight season.

"I am excited to take over in this leadership role and build on the excellent foundation that has been established here," Fox said.
