Palatine flag football game supports WINGS, family

Two deserving groups will benefit from the second annual Palatine Bowl Flag Football Game, a charity event put on by business professionals and first responders.

The Sunday, Oct. 3, fundraiser will assist the wife and young twin sons of fallen U.S. Marine Cpl. Christopher "C.J." Boyd, a Palatine native who was killed last month while on foot patrol in Afghanistan.

It will also benefit WINGS (Women in Need Growing Stronger), a domestic violence agency that lost thousands of dollars in revenue when a weather-related fire destroyed its Palatine resale shop over the summer.

At the game, attorneys and staff of Lavelle Law Ltd. will team up with other Palatine business professionals to take on members of the Palatine Police and Fire Departments.

The event gets underway at 12:30 p.m. at Ost Field, 250 E. Wood St., Palatine. It will also feature a raffle, a moonwalk, free Photo's hot dogs, fire trucks and police equipment, and throwing and kicking competitions. The Harper College cheerleading squad also will be in attendance.

For more details about the Palatine Bowl and raffle, call Lavelle Law at (847) 705-7555.
