Driver crashes, says sun impaired vision

A 18-year-old Wood Dale man who said his vision was obscured by bright sunlight had to be cut from his vehicle after a crash in Itasca Thursday morning, police said.

Itasca police responded to the 500 block of Park Boulevard at 7:44 a.m. after the 18-year-old's vehicle struck the back of a construction vehicle stopped on the inside lane of eastbound Park Boulevard while performing maintenance, police said.

The Wood Dale man was extricated by Itasca fire officials and taken to Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village with nonlife-threatening injuries. No tickets have been issued, but the crash is under investigation, police said. Anyone who witnessed the accident is asked to call Itasca police.
