82-year-old woman killed in farm accident

GREEN VALLEY -- Authorities in central Illinois say an 82-year-old Green Valley woman was killed in a farming accident.

Tazewell County Coroner Dennis Conover says Josephine Mayrose was pronounced dead at the scene Wednesday afternoon.

In a statement Thursday, Conover said a tractor pulling a disc struck Mayrose and the driver was unaware until minutes later. The accident happened in a field just off Winkle Road almost a mile east of Illinois 29.

The (Bloomington) Pantagraph reports that an autopsy Thursday showed Mayrose suffered multiple injuries and fractures. Her death remains under investigation.

Green Valley is about 35 miles west of Bloomington.
