Long Grove shop to close

LONG GROVE -- Casa Brasil, 118 Old McHenry Road, Long Grove announced plans to close. The gift shop is expected to close at the end of October. Owner Cristi Furbino, originally from Brazil, said personal reasons and the economy are forcing her to close. The Libertyville resident said liquidation sales will take place at the shop until the closing day. Merchandise is currently marked between 30 percent and 50 percent off. The store, with the motto, "From our Lands to Your Hands," has been open in downtown historic Long Grove for about three years. "The economy has made it tough," Furbino said.
