Scouting the Fire: The Fire (6-10-8, 26 points) needs a victory, though probably more for morale than for a playoff bid. Even a goal would be nice. It's been 362 minutes since the team's last goal, seven games since its last win.
Scouting the San Jose Earthquakes: The Fire faces former teammates Jon Busch and Tim Ward, both now at San Jose (11-7-6, 39 points). San Jose is in position for a playoff spot and trying to stay there.
Next game: at FC Dallas, Saturday.
