Students paid for Geneva High fireworks

Some Geneva taxpayers have inquired as to how much they paid for last Friday's Geneva High School homecoming fireworks show.

Wonder no longer. You paid nothing.

The school's student council, with money it raised, paid for the traditional fireworks at the football game at Burgess Stadium. The show cost $4,000.

"We never spent a dime of taxpayers' money on fireworks," Principal Tom Rogers said.

The student council is very community-minded, he said, and "gladly spent that money to create an event the entire community can enjoy."
