Third debate set:Tenth congressional district candidates Robert Dold and Dan Seals are set to meet in another public forum Oct. 7. The gathering is set for 7 p.m. at Temple Am Shalom, 840 Vernon Ave., Glencoe. It is sponsored by Hadassah Chicago Chapter. Dold, a Republican from Kenilworth, and Seals, a Democrat from Wilmette, are running for an open seat. Republican Mark Kirk now holds the post but is running for U.S. Senate.Dold launches new TV ad:Tenth District Republican congressional candidate Robert Dold this week launched a new cable TV commercial. Called "Economic Recovery," the 30-second spot focuses on the nation's fiscal problems and is critical of the leadership in Washington, D.C. Both Dold and his Democratic opponent, Dan Seals, have focused their energy and money on cable TV ads this campaign. Neither has placed commercials on network stations.Pumpkin Fest 2010The Libertyville Junior Woman's Club invites is hosting Pumpkin Fest 2010 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9 in downtown Libertyville. The free event in and around Cook Park features face painting and entertainment provided by the Dance Academy of Libertyville and Improv Playhouse. Those who donate nonperishable food items will receive a free pumpkin from the Sunrise and Noon Rotary Clubs. Kids can Visit Church Street for Touch the Trucks, where they can sit in a firetruck, police car, garbage truck and many other vehicles. The feature is sponsored by the Cook Memorial Public Library. Downtown businesses will offer activities such as cookie decorating and kids crafts, and guess the weight of the large pumpkin.Candidate forum:The League of Women Voters is hosting a candidate forum at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 30 at the Lake Forest/Lake Bluff Senior Center, 100 E. Old Mill Road, Lake Forest. Candidates running for state House districts 58 and 59 state representative, Lake County Board District 23, Lake County Clerk, Lake County Sheriff, and Lake County Regional Superintendent of Schools will participate. The forum is held jointly by four leagues in Lake Forest/Lake Bluff, Highland Park, Deerfield/Lincolnshire and Glencoe. Call (847) 282-0598 or visit www.lwv-lflb.org.
