Book sale:The Friends of Dundee Township Library's annual fall book sale will run from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 1 and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 2 in the lower level meeting room at the library, 555 Barrington Ave., East Dundee. Books, VHS tapes, CDs, DVDs, audio books and cassette tapes will be for sale. You'll receive one free paperback for donating a non-perishable food item. Food donations will go to the FISH Food Pantry in Carpentersville.Flea market move:The flea market that has been at Santa's Village since August of 2009 is now moving to the Palumbo property at Cristina Drive and Route 72. The East Dundee village board agreed to special zoning to allow the "Market at Dundee Crossing" to be outside through October. After that, the market will move inside a warehouse on the Palumbo property and transition toward value-priced bargain items like those at the Dollar Store, according to Chuck Black, coordinator of the flea market. Antiques and arts and crafts items will also be available and food vendors will likely sell outside, he said. The market will be open outside from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays through the end of October. Once the flea market moves indoors it will likely have Friday afternoon and evening hours as well.Stroll through preserve:Parents and grandparents are invited to relaxed walks on stroller-friendly trails with the return of the Kane County Forest Preserve District's "Nature by Stroller" program. Naturalist Erica Lemon will lead a guided stroll on Friday, Oct. 15, at Fitchie Creek Forest Preserve, 39W933 Russell Road in Elgin. It runs from 9 to 10 a.m. Both fussy and quiet babies are welcome, interruptions are expected, and feeding and diaper stops are allowed.
