Barking dog leads police to pot growing operation
FERNDALE, Mich. -- A barking dog led Ferndale police to the discovery of a marijuana growing operation in the basement of a 44-year-old man's house.
Lt. William Wilson tells The Daily Tribune of Royal Oak 150 plants were among items found at the home in the suburb north of Detroit. He said the homeowner is not involved with medical marijuana use or care giving.
Officers responded to the home after neighbors complained early Saturday morning about the dog. They entered the home through an open back door after no one answered the front door.
Officers found a grocery bag partially filled with marijuana and the homeowner asleep on a couch. Police confiscated the marijuana, growing lights, fertilizer, a water system, tools and a handgun.
The man was not arrested. Police are reviewing the case.
