Huntley grad Hoffman earns NAIA honor

Huntley High School graduate Sara Hoffman, a freshman at Judson University, has been named the NAIA National Player of the week for women's soccer.

Hoffman becomes the first Judson women's soccer player to earn the award in the program's history.

Hoffman earned the award for her play against 14th-ranked Robert Morris last week. She stopped 16 shots in the game, leading the Eagles to a 0-0 tie in overtime. One of her saves came in the 89th minute, just before the game went to OT.

Robert Morris came into the game having scored 19 goals in its previous four matches.

Hoffman was also named the NCCAA National Player of the Week as well as the CCAC Defensive Player of the Week.

Men's soccerJudson 1, Trinity International 1: For the first time this season, the Judson men's soccer team didn't win. Rafa Heck scored the lone goal for the 16th-ranked Eagles (8-0-1, 1-0-1) but Trinity came back to tie the CCAC match 1-1 in the 82nd minute. Judson outshot Trinity 23-5 in the game. Alex Tyton recorded 3 saves in goal for the Eagles.ECC 5, MCC 2: Michael Berruquin had 2 goals and 3 assists as Elgin Community College (4-3 overall) registered an ISCC win over McHenry County College. Joel Perez, Ernesto Caballero and Ishmeal Yemoh also scored for the Spartans and Osiel Ravadan had 7 saves in goal.GeneralJudson awards: Mike Tobie and Alex Tyton (Larkin) of the Judson men's soccer team were named CCAC Players of the Week and Tyton was named NCCAA National Player of the Week. Judson women's golfer Katyln Anderberg (Huntley) was named NCCAA National Player of the Week for the second time this season.
