Name-calling, false facts do no good
In response to the writer of "Keep the country moving forward," I would like to address a few of his erroneous statements. He comments that some want to do away with Social Security in favor of a privatized retirement plan. Republicans want to improve Social Security in many ways, including giving a choice of privatizing or keeping the status quo. Keep in mind that the government-run Social Security is nearly bankrupt.
The deficit explosion he refers to is due to huge wasteful spending by Obama and other Democrats. The deficit was actually going down in 2007 before the Democrats took over Congress. Lowering the tax rate, as Kennedy and Reagan did, brings in more revenue, not less.
He states Republicans "could care less" about the uninsured. Republicans believe in allowing poor people to get free care at hospital emergency rooms, but many people, especially the young, prefer not to have health insurance at this time in their lives and resent the coming mandate to force them to purchase insurance.
Calling credit card companies predators, he fails to understand that credit cards are voluntary and that it should not be made easier for people to spend irresponsibly and overextend their limits without being penalized.
He writes about the "loonies" taking over in November. In reality, the loonies would be the people who believe in the U.S. Constitution, personal responsibility and the free market system that have made the U.S. the most successful country in the world.
Calling Republicans ignorant, loonies, parasites and predators shows a lack of knowledge of the issues, so he resorts to name-calling. So typical of liberal Democrats.
