Efficient light bulbs have own problems

On TV news today, a Texas senator said he wants to repeal the ban on conventional light bulbs in 2012. The new, energy-efficient bulbs contain mercury. How will our villages dispose of them? Two years ago, I brought my thermometer that contained mercury to the Buffalo Grove village hall and received a free thermometer that did not contain mercury.

Why can't we buy whatever we want? They are both on the shelf in the store. To save energy, I shut off unused lights - really, it's to keep my energy bill lower.
