Flooding fix meeting:There will be a special meeting of the Rob Roy Drainage District II board at 8 tonight at the Sugar Grove Township building, 54 Snow St., Sugar Grove. The board will review the proposal for the project involving the Mallard Point conveyance line and assessment to the Rob Roy outfall at Jericho Road. This relates to drainage problems experienced by residents of the Mallard Point subdivision.Forum on state budget reform:Illinois state Rep. Keith Farnham, a Democrat who represents the 43rd District, will host a community forum about state budget reform at 7 p.m. Thursday in Meeting Room 1 at the Gail Borden Library, 270 N. Grove Ave., Elgin. Farnham, who faces a challenge from Republican and former state Rep. Ruth Munson, will discuss implementing a performance-based budgeting system for the state that is similar to those used by businesses.SCN volleyball clinic:The St. Charles North High School girls volleyball team will host a clinic for boys and girls in grades four through eight from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the school gymnasium, 255 Red Gate Road. Walk-ins are welcome.Fundraiser race for Marklund:The Itasca Knights of Columbus, Itasca Lions Club and Itasca Runners Club presents the second annual Oktoberfest 5K Run/Walk at 9 a.m. Saturday at Usher Park in downtown Itasca (Irving Park Road and Walnut Street). Race-day registration and packet pickup is from 7 to 8:30 a.m. Proceeds benefit Marklund, a nonprofit organization that provides compassionate care for infants, children and adults with severe and profound developmental disabilities with homes in Bloomingdale and Geneva. The entry fee is $25 for preregistration, $30 on race day. Proceeds go toward grants for all Geneva public schools. The $50 tickets include a coupon book for downtown merchants and $25 in Geneva Chamber of Commerce gift certificates.
