Men charged in Palatine burglary

Police have charged two men with breaking into a Palatine home and stealing electronic equipment.

Christopher DeLord, 21, of the 200 block of West Tilbury Lane in Palatine and Paul Dini, 19, of the 900 block of Honeysuckle Drive in Wheeling admitted to stealing electronic equipment, video games and a digital camera from a home on the 100 block of Brentwood Drive on Sept. 1, according to police.

DeLord was also charged with a second home burglary that occurred on the 1600 block of North Denise Drive on Sept. 22, police said.

The two men were arrested on Saturday after a joint investigation between the Palatine and Wheeling police departments. Both men confessed that they rang neighborhood doorbells to check if residents were home, and if someone answered, they would ask the homeowner if he or she needed the lawn cut. If nobody was home, the men would go to the rear of the home and search for a way to break in.

Police said force was used to gain entry into one home, and the other was entered through an unlocked rear door.
