Benefit raises $100,000 for Home of the Sparrow

Home of the Sparrow extends their appreciation to the many "Women Fore Women" golf outing and contest participants who supported the charitable organization at Makray Golf Club in Barrington recently, either by attending the event, purchasing one of the many auction items, making a direct contribution, or all of the above. From all sources, over $100,000 was raised for the benefit of the Sparrow program which serves women and children of the Northwest suburbs.

Home of the Sparrow thanks all for their generous support of the women and children at Home of the Sparrow who find themselves in personal crisis due to unfortunate circumstances such as death of a spouse, divorce, abusive situations, loss of a job, etc. HOS provides motivated individuals with an opportunity to regain independence and self-esteem with an (approximate) 18 month structured program of counseling, transitional housing and job-skills training. Facilities are located in Crystal Lake and McHenry.

• Back-Nine Winning Foursome: Sue McVickers, Joni Lolli, Marie Beath and Cyndi Zurawski

• "Most Honest" Foursome: Louise Knox, Cindy Petronoff, Pam Panczyk and Fran Guziel

• Putting Contest: no winner, but Jill Minner was very close
