Marijuana plants found in Grayslake field
A Grayslake farmer was surprised to find four marijuana plants growing in his fields Friday afternoon, police said. He spotted the plants while cultivating his own crops near the intersection of Route 45 and Casey Road. The farmer reported the plants to police around 4 p.m. Friday. Lake County Sheriff police officials destroyed the plants on-site.
According to police, one marijuana plant can produce up to 3 pounds of cannabis with a street value of about $2,500.
The plants discovered Friday were apparently amateurish and did not have a water system.
At this time there are no suspects in connection with the marijuana plants, police said.
