Scouting Morton at Leyden

Morton (2-2, 1-1) at Leyden (1-3, 0-2)

When: 7:30 p.m. today at West Campus, Northlake

Last week: Morton lost to Addison Trail 35-7; Leyden lost to Hinsdale South 17-14

Outlook: Mistakes Leyden may have been able to overcome in previous years - such as 2 missed field goals and an extra point last week - have been costly with an offense that has only 3 TDs this year. "Our defense has been playing well but our offense still needs to get on track," said Leyden coach Tom Cerasani. "Offensively we've showed some flashes but we're still not consistent. We need to protect the ball when we get opportunities and take advantage of them." Leyden used FB Nelson Lugo more last week and he rushed for 53 yards. Cerasani said Morton is better than in previous years as Jeremy Keys rushed for 140 yards and 2 TDs in a win over Reavis and had 40 yards last week. Leyden lost WR Adrian Ruiz again to injury.
