Enough smear ads, Gov. Quinn

I have been watching the political ads over the last two weeks and noted that Pat Quinn's ads clearly attempt to show that Bill Brady is not a mainstream candidate. Quinn's ads point to the fact that Brady does not favor gun control - scary!

Judging by the news reports of all of the shootings in Chicago, it is quite clear that gun control does not work.

Another ad points to Brady's pro-life stance. Would Brady have an opportunity to change federal law? Of course not. Lastly, he points out that Brady is a rich guy who drives a Porsche and, gasp, owns a condo in Florida. As if being a successful businessman is a terrible crime.

What I have not seen in any of Quinn's ads is how he will bring back the jobs that he and his party have lost. I also have not seen his explanation on why, during a hiring and raise freeze, he decided to give his staff raises. I have not seen any ads regarding how Quinn will cut government programs so that the people of Illinois will not have to have a 50-percent tax increase.

Governor Quinn's successes have not been highlighted in any of his ads. Could the reason be that there aren't any?

The people of Illinois will not be fooled this time, Gov. Quinn. We are tired of being overtaxed and under represented. We are tired of corruption and scandals. We are perplexed how we are $13 billion in the hole, and are even more perplexed that you have no answers as to how it happened or, more importantly, how to get out of that hole. No amount of smear ads against your opponent will change that.
