Beer, brats, music: Find it all at Hoffman Estates' Germanfest

The Village of Hoffman Estates Arts Commission is proud to bring back its Oktoberfest-themed open-air event, Platzkonzert Germanfest, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25.

This free celebration of all things German will take place at the Virginia Mary Hayter Village Green Amphitheater located at 5510 Prairie Stone Parkway, off Route 72 in the Prairie Stone Business Park, just west of the Sears Centre Arena.

The Tenors 3 will start off the music at noon. Try your hand at stein carrying during the stein-carrying contest at 12:30 p.m. The Schuhplattler-Verein Edelweiss dancers will entertain the crowd at 1 p.m., and Jimmy's Bavarians will provide authentic German music at 1:30 p.m. There will also be activities for the kids.

Like last year, German beer, bratwurst, sauerkraut, German potato salad, desserts and a selection of German wines will be available for purchase.

Bring lawn chairs and blankets for seating.

General parking for Platzkonzert is east of the venue in the lot across the street from the old fire station. Park at the west end of the lot, and follow the path from the northwest corner to the amphitheater. Handicap parking is west of the venue; there will be a shuttle to and from the venue for handicapped patrons.

In case of inclement weather, Platzkonzert may be canceled. For updates, visit hoffmanestatesarts.com or call (847) 781-2606.

Hoffman Estates' Platzkonzert Germanfest will be serving up brats, beer and more on Saturday, Sept. 24.
