Sugar Grove man charged in sex assault
A 48-year-old Sugar Grove man has been accused of sexually assaulting a teenage girl, prosecutors said Monday.
Mitchell Jordan of the 300 block of Sutton Court surrendered to police Sunday on two counts of criminal sexual assault and one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, Sugar Grove Police Investigator John Sizer said.
Kane County prosecutors said Jordan sexually assaulted a girl - who was known to him - on multiple occasions in late 2009 and early 2010, when the victim was 15 or 16 years old.
Jordan was released Sunday after posting a $5,000 cash bond and is scheduled to appear in front of Circuit Judge Thomas E. Mueller on Oct. 13. He could not be reached for comment Monday.
If convicted of the most serious offense, a Class 1 felony, Jordan could be sentenced to up to 15 years in prison.
According to court records, he previously received court supervision for driving under the influence of alcohol in 2002 and for violating an order of protection in 2003.
