Bus Tour Offers a Rural and Suburban ViewThe Lake County Stormwater Management Commission is hosting a bus tour of North Mill Creek/Dutch Gap from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25. Participants will learn about the diverse watershed from Bristol, Wis., south to parts of Antioch, Lindenhurst and Old Mill Creek. Along the way, experts and residents will talk about the watershed's unique features and challenges. Stops include a family-owned dairy farm, lakes, a recent subdivision development, a wastewater treatment plant, and a Lake County Forest Preserve. The tour route will also include Red Wing Slough, an area of horse farms, and environmental corridors. Admission is $10. Space is limited and reservations are required. Republican Robert Dold and Democrat Dan Seals will debate at 1 p.m. at the Forest View Alternative School, 2121 S. Goebbert Road. It is being hosted by the AARP, a national senior-citizen membership organization. The meeting is open to the public.Candidates meet in Barrington:The League of Women Voters of the Barrington Area will hold a candidates forum Sept. 25 at the Barrington Area Library, 505 N. Northwest Hwy., Barrington. Democratic, Republican and Green party candidates have been invited from 8th Congressional District and Illinois House districts 51, 54 and 64. The forum for the Illinois House seats will be from 3 to 4 p.m. and the forum for the 8th Congressional District will be 4 to 5 p.m. A League moderator will conduct the forum and questions may be submitted by audience members.
