West Dundee's Heritage Fest keeps rolling despite rain
Kenneth Sawicki of West Dundee rummaged through the books, artwork and other items for sale Saturday at Heritage Fest in Grafelman Park.
"You never know what you'll find at these kinds of things," he said. "One time I found a beautiful old Frank Sinatra record I'd been looking for. So I try to come out."
West Dundee's Heritage Fest got under way Friday and continues through Sunday. Events take place in the park, along the Riverwalk and in the downtown area.
Saturday's cold and damp weather made for a smaller crowd, but those who came out said they had a good time.
"I wish it was nicer out, but we always like coming to this," said Cheryl Gentile, who brought her three children. "It's fun to walk downtown and play games in the park. There's something really homey about it."
Musical entertainment scheduled for Sunday includes the Dundee Scottish Pipe Band at 12:15 p.m. and the family-friendly rock 'n' roll of the Lennys at 2:30 p.m., both at that the Main Stage downtown. The Starlights, a Dixieland group, will play in the Grafelman Park gazebo at noon.
The final day of Heritage Fest will also include a classic car show, a business expo, antique sales, children's games and a chili cook-off, one of the biggest hits of last year's fest.
