We need to secure borders now

Our border with Mexico should have been secured several years ago. However in the last couple of years things have been escalating. The violence from drug cartel activity has gotten worse in Mexico and has been spilling into our country. Several people have been killed - among them our citizens.

A man in southern Arizona put up hidden cameras in the border area. These cameras have revealed that many Mexicans have been marching across our border as though it were a super highway. Some are carrying weapons and many are carrying huge packs (apparently drugs). And much garbage has been strewed along the border area by illegal aliens en route to their destination. Also, terrorists from the Middle East and Africa have been caught trying to slip through the border.

When pleas to our federal government failed, the people of Arizona passed a law to help the situation. The law is tough, but fair and prohibits racial profiling. Instead of coming to the rescue the Obama administration is suing the state of Arizona. That is wrong. States have the right to protect their borders.

And to compound the problem, Obama has marched over to the United Nations for "help" with the situation - citing human rights abuse. We don't need the United Nations telling us what to do. The only thing many member states know about human rights is how to abuse them.

Communist nations deprive their citizens of their rights and Muslim countries persecute anyone who is not a Muslim and mistreat the women. We cannot wait until the drug cartels control parts of our country as they have in Mexico, or until some terrorists slip in and cause a catastrophe. We need to secure the borders now.
