Act now to fix 'Grayslake Crawl'

Route 120 traffic through Grayslake is a crawl every day. This morning, it was like a merge of people turning right from Garfield Blvd. to go up the incline, over the tracks where half the traffic turns right on Highway 83.

There are "No Outlet" signs at Garfield and Lincoln Ave. but that's false.

The "smart" commuters know that they can cut through the neighborhood south of 120 from Lake Street, and cut in front of the "nice" people on Route 120 who let them out, backing traffic up all the way to Lake Street.

My idea is to close Garfield Blvd. at 120, making traffic come out on Lincoln, and build a long right turn lane which will allow much more traffic through that horrible intersection and add a left turn lane at Lincoln so westbound traffic doesn't stop when people wait to turn left.

We can't wait 20 or 30 years for the bypass to be constructed.

Also, there need to be two westbound lanes from Alleghany to the 120/134 split.

This traffic is a crawl every day.

I urge others who read this and agree to make calls or write letters to IDOT or your politicians asking them to Fix the Grayslake Crawl!
