Northwest Community nursing care recognized

Northwest Community Hospital has retained its status as providing nursing care that ranks among the best in the country, the Arlington Heights hospital has announced.

A subsidiary of the American Nurses Association awarded the hospital a Magnet designation, certifying that the nursing care continues to rank in the top 6 percent of hospitals in the country. The hospital achieved Magnet designation in 2006 but must reapply every four years. Magnet hospitals have proved to have better patient outcomes, lower mortality rates, increased patient satisfaction, shorter stays, and higher ratios of nurses, the hospital said.

"Our hospital leaders and physicians work diligently to provide our nurses with the support, autonomy and tools they need to do their work at a superior level," said Dale Beatty, chief nursing officer at the hospital.
