Thanks to all who celebrated a hero
On Friday, Aug. 27, I had the honor and privilege of being part of the many who paid tribute to a hero.
My nephew Christopher "CJ" Boyd was killed in Afghanistan on Thursday, Aug. 19. His procession to his final place of rest was South along Milwaukee Ave. in Wheeling.
Many thanks to the fire and police departments along the way that guided his many loved ones on the path to All Saints Cemetery.
I was particularly touched by the Wheeling Fire Department. As we passed by the new location on Milwaukee Ave. they stood at attention and saluted a hero.
CJ was a resident of Palatine; however, these fine women and men acknowledged a hero regardless of where his home was. Looking for a hero? Look to a soldier. Thank you.
