Scouting Leyden at Downers Grove South

Leyden (1-1) at Downers Grove South (0-2)

Last week: Leyden lost to Proviso West 23-6; Downers South lost to Glenbard West 21-16

Outlook: So much for an 0-2 breather off a loss as Leyden takes on WSC Gold favorite and perennial power Downers South. "They've played two really good teams (Bolingbrook and Glenbard West) and they're pretty talented," said Leyden coach Tom Cerasani. "They have some guys who can play." The Mustangs lost QB Chandler Whitmer (Illinois) but RB Josh Williams had 110 yards last week. Leyden managed only 40 yards of offense last week to negate solid defensive efforts by LB Nelson Lugo and DL Tramon Thomas. "We're going to try some different things this week," Cerasani said. "We're going to try to throw the ball a little more (with QB Joey DiFronzo) and be a little more effective in the passing game." Leyden WR Adrian Ruiz will miss his second game because of injury.
